It is almost certain that Empire will have a little sister. Lee Daniels, co-creator of Empire will launch a new series named “Star” in December.
Lee Daniels already has already a hit television show with Empire, but now
he is ready to take on another music centered series, and to do so, he is teaming back up with Fox for a new drama called Star. The series will tell the story of 4 ambitious women who form a girls band. These girls will have to face the harsh reality of the celebrity world. This time, the series will take place in Atlanta and not in Chicago (as Empire) and it will purely focus on the artistic side of music.
To produce a quality show, Daniels has launched an international casting search for his main characters. Entertainment Weekly broke down the four main roles for Lee Daniels’ Star:
STAR: “Character is a Caucasian female, 18 years old (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She’s a tough chick with a badass attitude.”
ALEXANDRA: “Character is an African-American female, about 20 (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She’s an elegant yet classic beauty. Alexandra wants to put this material world behind her so she can make real, authentic music.”
SIMONE: “Character is half African-American, half Caucasian, Star’s younger sister, 16 years old (actor must be 18 years of age or over). Tragic and adorable.
COTTON: “Character is a half African-American and half Latina transgender woman with a stunning look, 20 (actor must be 18 years of age or over). She has an especially keen eye for fashion.”
Of course, those details can change, but one thing is for sure – a crossover between Empire and Star could be a possibility for an episode.
We are awaiting the pilot!
